Debt Trap Awareness

ILCBA Financial Literacy Program
“Avoiding the Debt Trap”

Financial Literacy is of paramount importance now more than ever as our nation endures the most challenging economy in recent decades—ILCBA provides a presentation, titled “Avoiding the Debt Trap,” that is designed to reach perhaps the most vulnerable segment of our population: teenagers and young adults.

With the use of credit cards among young adults on the rise, many are finding themselves deep in debt without understanding how they got there or how to get out of financial trouble. This 50-minute presentation explores key concepts in budgeting, credit math, consumer finance and managing debt.

Encourage financial literacy in your community!!

This program is designed so ILCBA members - attorneys - give this presentation directly to the attendees. The presentation is easily understood by teenagers and young adults and thoroughly covers “debt traps.” ILCBA has found that having an attorney give the presentation is effective and efficient as legal questions can be answered thoroughly and accurately and the serious nature of the subject matter is brought home to the audience.

To have an ILCBA member do a presentation of “Avoiding the Debt Trap” to promote financial literacy in your community please contact Kevin Kelly at (312) 698-7300 ext. 7341 or kevin@markofflaw.com.
